Commented on Milton Glaser on drawing and thinking
@anonymous If you google the phrase 'Analyze the model, don't copy the model' you'll see the work of an artist I had in mind when I made that comment. He doesn't strive to accurately copy the model, and he comes...

Commented on Good News from the Large Hadron Collider
I had a word with Gary Seven's cat. She said they had to make a few 27th century modifications, but the LHC was good to go, now....
-
Commented on Sneaky pinball makers' tricks
I'm convinced those things have magnets that suck the ball down the exit chute. (Or is it just my pinball playing that sucks?)...
-
Commented on Milton Glaser on drawing and thinking
I'd like to see the other 49 Shakespeare drawings. Are they all the same 3/4 view head? He talks a lo about form, but his drawing doesn't indicate much in the way of solid three-dimensional construction. It's more like -...

Commented on Couple charged with trying to sell fake Warhols
Okay, so Warhol died nine years before they were made, and there is no Matthew Baldwin, but how does that make the images fake Warhols? I'm not sure I follow. ;)...
-
Commented on Murdoch-Microsoft deal in the works
It's going to be like Conservapedia vs Wikipedia for search engines, only with Conservapedia having serious money behind it....

Commented on The Glenn Beck Party?
To be honest I didn't hear that here first....

Commented on Britain's new Internet law -- as bad as everyone's been saying, and worse. Much, much worse.
So if someone hotlinks an image of mine on MySpace will I have super powers now? Or will only certain categories of rights holders be considered 'important?'...

Commented on Lego hole-punch for paper-meets-Lego projects
Good idea. Is this new? I wonder if someone at LEGO is in trouble for not coming up with this in house ages ago....
-
Commented on Video: Lady Gaga before she became famous
I see the crowned Moon Creatures from Georges Méliès' Le Voyage dans la Lune (1902) are making another cameo here in white vinyl after their successful music video debut in Smashing Pumpkins 'Tonight.'...

Commented on Train track inspector almost gets hit twice
What he lacks in horse sense he makes up for in spider sense....
-
Commented on Mishap at the Electrical Substation
It's interesting how parts of it, and even the whole thing, instantaneously vanish and are replaced with a new formation. I don't think it would occur to me to do that if I were animating it....

Commented on Brilliant meteor over Utah
That's exactly how Martha Kent described it the night she found Clark....
-
Commented on Mishap at the Electrical Substation
A scientist working on a new energy source creates more than he bargained for. Dr. Quest receives a radio request for help from the man, who is cut off. Now Benton, Race, Jonny, Hadji and Bandit must investigate and defeat...

Commented on Matt Logue's "Empty Los Angeles" photography book
There is a somewhat automated method for doing this in Photoshop Extended - the image stack with layers combined using the median filter http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/03/safe_humane_tou.html...

Commented on Matt Logue's "Empty Los Angeles" photography book
I think that red building is where Silicon Graphics was (is?)...

Commented on Demi claims missing hipflesh is for real. But $5,000 says it's Moore photoshopping.
I'd like to see what her feet are doing. When only one leg is weight-bearing, the hip on the other side sags....

Commented on Demi claims missing hipflesh is for real. But $5,000 says it's Moore photoshopping.
You can't judge it unless you see the whole body. It could just be a hip thrust which drops the other side. The arm on the 'missing side' looks like it is in its original position....

Commented on Animated video for Flairs' "Trucker's Delight" (NSFW)
I like the colors in this. Particularly in the desert exteriors. Reebok actually did a series of ads like this back in '89. Only then the aesthetic wasn't '8-bit' or '16-bit,' it was just 'make it look like a video...

Commented on BREAKING: Leaked UK government plan to create "Pirate Finder General" with power to appoint militias, create laws
So record labels and studios could get these new powers - what about individual rights holders? Do they have the same power? Because so much support for this stuff is based on the idea, 'Hey, I am a small photographer,...
-
Commented on Pirate Bay logo trademarked
I think if you look up the trademark for something like Playstation you'll find a long list of uses specified in the paperwork - rectal thermometers, pickles, rubber boots......

Commented on Conservative children's book vilifies Nancy Pelosi
Help... Mom? Shouldn't the strong patriarch be the one protecting the family? Just what kind of book is this, anyway?...
-
Commented on Hurting Google
So we are going to have liberal and conservative search engines? Can a metasearch engine search them both for me?...

Commented on Sandwich bag has fake mold printed on it to discourage thieves
I predict we will see this again on November 15, 2009 http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/15/anti-theft-lunch-bag.html...

Commented on Homemade globe
That's pretty cool. Reminds me of the Steinberg map of the US from a New Yorker's perspective. And that photoshop plugin looks interesting....
-
Commented on Homemade globe
We looked at that NASA map for the project I described in #9 - my daughter used it to guide her own map painting. http://www.flickr.com/photos/digitalartform/4104757315/ I was thinking it might be fun to try an accurate map in an antique...

Commented on Homemade globe
Using Maya I did a somewhat 'lower polygon' papercraft version just the other day to help my daughter with a school project. http://www.flickr.com/photos/digitalartform/4105484262/...
