Commented on Redhead 12-year-old assaulted over Facebook message citing South Park episode?
"stooped so low as to expect the police to solve schoolyard bullying" The hell? Physical assault is illegal. How hard is this to understand? If half of of your co-workers beat you up one day, you'd probably go to the...

Commented on Hugo Chavez, cannibalism apologist
"What context would explain praising Mugabe, Ahmadinejad and Amin? I'll take "brutal repression under the guise of anti-imperialist populism" for $500, Alex." That's obviously the interpretation that the BBC was aiming for. Might even be entirely accurate - BBC News...

-
Commented on Heroes and sociopaths: behavioral twins?
Actually, her entire paper basicly boils down to this: "there are people who are otherwise like sociopaths, but altruistic instead of selfish". Which is sort of obvious, in that every conceivable combination of personality traits is bound to exist, given...

Commented on Traffic cameras used to harass and limit movement of peaceful protestors
Checkov's law doesn't apply. Not even a little. It's a law about how to structure fiction. The actual law, in his own words (from wiki): "One must not put a loaded rifle on the stage if no one is thinking...

Commented on Lego hole-punch for paper-meets-Lego projects

-
Commented on EZ Cracker egg cracker
Actually, that was almost the first thing I thought of, right after "why are these idiots using that much strength?" It'd be really awesome for people with various physical problems - they just have an abysmally stupid marketting department....

-
Commented on Guns 'n Gardens - How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse
I'd be far more likely to trust bladed weapons than guns for one simple reason... Walking corpses are unlikely to be using their internal organs (including brain), so the holes made by guns are unlikely to do much to them....
-
Commented on MTV's Buzz: fantastically forward-thinking TV from 1990
What I find interesting is what this says about how we view violence as it relates to gender. You can make a video game where you kill and/or main hundreds of guys and and nobody has any problems... The gender...

Commented on Unicornfish chaser
Unicorn fish aren't even close to the coolest thing in that tank. Mantas, whale sharks... it is the awesome. Though I kept expecting a robot to start criticising the lack of plot....

Commented on Cataloging the lies in Palin's "Going Rouge"
I'm a Palin fan BECAUSE she's an embarassment to the GOP. Or would be, if the GOP had the capacity to feel shame....

Commented on Demonstrating TSA futility by stabbing dead pigs with pens

-
Commented on Comic on the joy of online reading
It's sort of wierd to see ebooks described as being cheaper - they cost about the same as a paperback, which is what most people actually buy. And paperbacks don't require you to pay through the freaking nose for an...

-
Commented on How to destroy the market for used gadgets
The least interesting thing to me about an console is the online capabilities. I only play single player RPGs and strategy games anyways. For $40, I'd be willing to put up with the relatively lower number of Japanese games as...

Commented on 100-word fiction competition — win an HP MediaSmart EX495
The walls of the tiny room they shared for the last two months, glistened in the dim light. He crouched over her corpse, clutching the bloodied knife that had so recently slit her throat. He slammed the knife into the...

Commented on Pretending and games, design, commerce and life
I just had to go and look up what, exactly, were tactical pants. Apparently they are basicly just cargopants (read: pants with tons of pockets) with a pseudo-military title. I find the militaristic pretentions silly myself, but tons of pockets...

Commented on Family's personalized Where the Wild Things Are <s>fresco</s> relief
It's the only picture book I have any recollection of at all from my childhood. And I still remember it fondly enough that I went to see a play version of it a couple years ago with my two best...
