Commented on Czech artist tells European Union to lighten up
A jerk and a fraud. He was commissioned to prepare an artwork CELEBRATING the Czech Republic's presidency of the EU. Instead he pockets 350,000 pounds and produces a denigrating piece I'd expect to see in an amusement park (as fabricated...

Commented on Harper's Index: the Bush Years
Thank god it's practically over. Let's just hope the new adminstration (and legislature) repudiates these transgressions....

Commented on Arab shoe-tossing isn't a gesture of friendly affection
Well, that's about how I feel about the last 8 years myself. The abrogation of the ABM treaty, renunciation of no-first-strike, destruction of the middle class, state sanctioned torture, instituting a war of agression (badly), trampling on the constitution, dead...

Commented on American Psychological Association members can't aid in military torture
I believe the margin was approximatley 9:6, which is hardly a slender majority. Moreover, it seems the society is about to change its leadership in favor of the referendum, the current leadership apparently standing with the 6. All in all,...

Commented on Mother Jones interactive military presence map
The 1-100 category puts a big spin on the graphic: the U.S. is everywhere! Last I heard, there were no combat units stationed in Russia. I wonder what a similar mapping subtracting out military attaches or showing only combat units...

Commented on Iran: You Suck At Photoshop (updated)
What's the big deal? This is standard operating practice for all countries, particularly in the military realm where misdirection is often desired (e.g., the addition or deletion of elements to mask the true capability)....

Commented on Nanotubes=the new asbestos?
Fear mongering rubbish. The report describes a scarring process in the lungs, which when caused by asbestos is called "asbestosis". It is not cancer, it is scarring. It is well known that fiberglass, silica, and other materials having long, thin,...

Commented on Mechanical gas-pumps choking on $4/gal gas
Those analog machines are so retro. I’ll bet they don’t even have a card reader (forget about RF). And, you have to deal with the attendant. So I suppose you could muddle through by just pricing everything $1 dollar less...

Commented on 7-year-old boy removed from father and placed in state custody over mistaken order of hard lemondade
Unfortunately, this type of incident is all too common. CPS routinely seizes children based on third party reports of abuse and neglect (see Texas). Moreover, the threshold at which abuse and neglect is claimed has fallen dramatically over the years....

Commented on University prof says students can't sell notes from his classes because it violates his copyright
@#13 Please see @#21 Two examples I once had a professor that gave the same lecture word for word every year. These lectures were essentially a regurgitaion of the class text, which was written by said professor. This professor was...

Commented on University prof says students can't sell notes from his classes because it violates his copyright
Pure nonsense. From both sides. A lecture attempts to explain a theory, concept or approach that the students must learn. The notes taken during a class are merely an outline of the material to be learned in the course and...
