Commented on UN goons destroy academic poster describing China's censorwall
I love how the response to a rude and unnecessary action is to stand in little groups and quietly discuss the event and its implications....

Commented on Review: Chrome Warsaw [Verdict: GINORMOUS]
The Ortlieb Messengerbag Pro is very roomy as well, but not as expensive. Has space for your personal ads as well :) http://www.ortliebusa.com/CartGenie/prod-54.htm...

Commented on Review: O'Neill SL Gloves [Verdict: Wipeout]
I like the BBG to-the-point reviews based on actual experience. I seem to detect some Cool Tools influence ;) Might be interesting to discuss some alternatives as well? Perhaps the gloves you are considering to replace these with?...

Commented on Amsterdam: O'Reilly Factor vs. reality
The Netherlands is actually in the proces of closing prisons, since there isn't enough crime to fill them. http://www.nrc.nl/international/article2246821.ece/Netherlands_to_close_prisons_for_lack_of_criminals...

Commented on Backpacking food taste-off
The results of a home taste test don't really matter much if everything will taste great when you finally unpack your tent after a long day of hiking. But I never buy expensive "backpacker's meals" from the outdoor equipment stores....
-
Commented on Common outdoor climbing phobias and how to combat them
I think you're fine leaving the paper behind, just pile some rocks on it to hide it from human view. Just get the cheap already-recycled paper that scratches your butt, but disintegrates easily. Shouldn't be a problem then, I think....

Commented on Ikea's colorful, altruistic solar-powered desk lamps
I've been looking at them at Ikea, but they are what Engadget would call a "crapgadget". I thought about all the good it would do, but I just don't want to end up owning a crappy lamp....

Commented on Heather McDougal on black widow spiders
Thank god I live in a country too cold for any kind of spider capable of causing more than a tiny red spot with a bite (if that)....

Commented on Review: Kool Dogz Ice Cake Maker
Isn't there a big difference between chewing icecubes and licing a hunk of ice? Icecubes provide instant chewiness, coldness and a drink, while licking a big block of ice only gets his tongue cold....

Commented on Will a state-of-the-art wetsuit make me enjoy surfing in freezing cold water?
The instructor should have known the water temperature and advise you to wear neoprene boots, gloves and a hood. I've learned to dive in cold water with all that and a full thickness wetsuit. The initial plunge nearly stops your...

Commented on iUnika Gyy: Inexpensive netbook with integrated solar and bioplastic body
All I need is to be able to hook up my wireless keyboard to my iPhone. But since Apple is apparently never going to let me do that, this might be just the kind of typewriter I could use. I...

Commented on Superheadz Digital Harinezumi camera is retrograde in all the best ways
I'm right, but I'm also being kind of a dick so never mind my previous comment. Hadn't had my coffee yet....
-
Commented on Superheadz Digital Harinezumi camera is retrograde in all the best ways
Wait, you think cameras with "magic" that measure and set everything automatically are better for LEARNING how to trick the light into becoming a good photograph? I can't read five paragraphs when the first starts with such a mistake, so...

Commented on Color e-ink on the way
Yes, great. I love my words in color. I'd prefer them to concentrate on making b&w cheaper. A very good Dutch newspaper (NRC) is working together with the iLiad manufacturer, and has been successfully offering an ePaper edition of the...
