  i agree that dr. who has always had a steampunky aesthetic, whether the creators consciously knew it or not. that's part of the doctor's appeal -- he's a DIY type of guy! the past couple years of dr. who have been especially steampunk influenced, i think. i always get a little leap of joy when we get to see the inside of the tardis, with its seemingly-random gears and dials, and tubes and blinky things all hither and yon....
