Because I'm fat, I can't even GET private medical insurance, and if I were about fifty pounds lighter, I would qualify for a plan that costs three times as much as someone smaller but otherwise just like me (nonsmoker, non-drinker, clean medical history, no health problems WHATSOEVER).   2 Facts: 1. I am overweight, but can fit into an airplane seat with the arms down using an extender on the belt. Husband is also overweight, fits seat, but does not need extender. 2. We only fly every other year. Now, we book our flights at least 4 months prior to our trips. So, my thing is this. Let's use for this example our anniversary trip later this month.   You know, I totally overlooked an important point in my previous post. I forgot to say that the airline has done a fantastic smoke-and-mirrors job of making it look like they care about passenger comfort, that they're finally 'doing something', obscuring the fact that accommodations are too small for the average passenger's comfort in the first place, and steering completely clear of the very simple solution of giving extra space to passengers who need it (when it is even possible to do so, given that most of the planes I've been on don't have movable arm rests) without humiliating and...
